Contains general index at rear.Carne left England in 1821. He spent much time traveling in Israel, Palestine as well as Constantinople, Greece, the Levant and Egypt. One of the few works of that time to include what is present-day Lebanon. This work is complete and contains two full-page maps and steel-engraved plates depicting spectacular views throughout Syria and Asia Minor. Binding with some scuffing along edges of leather at corners and spine. Some light damp-staining of versos of plates and in margins, mostly at front and back, not affecting engravings.
